Substantial accomplishments to date

2019: Dimitri Syrris manually tested the idea & concept in Africa

2020 Jan - March: Mike Simpson (Co-founder & CFO) & Skye Aspden (Co-founder & COO) joined to create the Baotree leadership team

2020 April - May: Baotree became a registered entity in the UK, and the team raised an initial seed investment round to commence the software development

2020 June - September: Welcomed our advisory committee; V1 of software developed

2020 October - December: Successful technology test in Kenya with four executing partners; impacted six community groups, 1,000+ community individuals and 600+ impact data tasks captured & verified

2021 January - March: V2 development of software initiated; Dimitri moved to Kenya & opened Africa HQ

2021 April - June: Expanded sales to agriculture, clean energy, water management, waste management and humanitarian sectors

2021 July - September: Closed first customer; team expansion; product advancements and anchor investors secured for the current capital raise

Monetisation strategy

Three subscription tiers
1. User: £6 / $9 p/m
2. Business: £107 / $149 p/m (up to 5 users, then extra per user)
3. Enterprise: Starting at £1,440 / $2,000 p/m (up to 20 users, then extra per user; on-boarding fee additional)

Initially focused on Enterprise opportunities to drive profitability as well as marketable use-cases. These cases are expected to in turn secure other Enterprise clients, as well as Business clients through a network effect.

Partnerships enable distribution through a referral fee program. We enable groups across Africa to sell the Baotree software to the private sector for ESG, CSR and UN Sustainable Development Goal initiatives.

We are developing a sector by sector approach to diversify the use cases and distribution channels of the Baotree software.

Use of proceeds

The use of funds is expected to be split as follows:

➢ 51% to build the team
To include: CTO, 2x software engineers, 2x sales & customer success, 1x admin (all in-house)

➢ 29% outsourced software development
Baotree owns the IP; further, this will decrease over time as we hire in-house software engineers

➢ 7% sales and marketing (direct marketing spend, travel for sales)

➢ 13% other costs (rent, office expenses, subscriptions, telecom)

Please note that the company has £150,000 left of their SEIS allocation. £152,000 of the investment reflected in the campaign is not eligible for SEIS, so investments up to £302,000 in this round are expected to be eligible for SEIS tax relief on a first-come, first-serve basis. Valuation (pre-money)
