The continued growth of the UK wine industry has created significant demand for our contract winemaking services. English wine sales grew 10% in 2023 to 8.8 million bottles. Sparkling has led the charge: up 187% since 2018 to 6.2 million bottles. Still wine increased 117% to 2.6 million bottles over the same period. There are over 450 hectares of vines planted in Essex - a region specialising in still wine production.


Itasca Group PLC has multiple revenue streams including contract wine production, distribution and installation of specialist equipment, production and sales of our own-brand wines to the UK and export markets together with a unique hospitality offer.


Led by the inspiring vision of Malcolm Walker, our founder, the senior management team have decades of experience with expertise in winemaking and the UK and global drinks sector.


Itasca Group PLC is a contract winemaker that has grown quickly and is now recognised as a major player in the UK wine sector, being the first winery awarded a regenerative certificate for grape processing.

In 2025, our turnover was £2.9m.

Itasca PLC group has four different revenue streams


Contract wine production: Demand for our services has pushed our Hampshire winery to full capacity. To meet market demand, we’re opening a larger facility in Essex, increasing our capacity and positioning us as the UK’s largest contract winemaking operation. The new Essex winery will be operational and ready to take grapes from harvest 2026 later this year.


Own brand: Our vineyards are managed on a regenerative basis. After building our award winning brand locally, we’re ready to launch our new brand to an international market. Backed by extensive research into consumer trends and buying habits, the new range is planned for late 2026 and will be a key engine of growth - premium in look and feel, but designed to make wine more approachable without losing credibility.


Hospitality: Our flagship consumer experience is Cranborne Lodge, a beautiful mansion in Dorset. This is our Maison: a place to host, educate, and inspire, creating sparkling-wine occasions, welcoming customers, and bringing wine and food lovers into the heart of the brand. It’s a genuinely distinctive proposition in the UK wine landscape.


Technical services: We’ve built an enviable technical services team supporting the wider wine and drinks industry. We expect this arm of the business to keep growing as we apply our expertise beyond wine - into categories such as cider, beer and dairy.
