Every journey starts with a problem that needs solving. In our case, staying connected while abroad. Imagine waiting in a long line at the airport phone shop or at the end of your trip, looking down at a huge roaming bill. Last year, a third of Brits touring Europe were hit with an average £262 roaming bill.
Enter ZIM. We’re an eSIM marketplace in a huge £52 billion roaming market. We’ve partnered with local network providers across the globe, offering their voice and data plans on our app.
You can buy these plans in three simple steps: browse, select and purchase.
An eSIM is a digital SIM card that eliminates the need for physical SIMs. No more switching between your physical SIM cards when you travel. You can buy, set up, activate and use your eSIM, needing nothing else but your device.
We wanted to offer travellers affordable voice and data solutions that were easy to use and quick to set up.
Substantial accomplishments to date
We’ve been relentlessly pursuing our mission to redefine mobile connectivity, and if we’re going to ask for your support, it’s important that we share our milestones.
We were Incubated at Demium and accelerated at Telefonica.
In 2021, we raised £265,000 in our pre-seed funding round, thanks to the faith and support of investors such as Demium Capital, Velocity Capital, BCombinator, Business Angel & Advisor, Felix Malpartida (ex-director at Vodafone UK).
We're proud to have closed deals with seven providers, our 1,500 customers have used more than 10,000 gigabytes of data from our app, and our CMGR of individual plans sold is at 44 percent (April '22 - Mar '23).
We’ve got a pipeline of closed deals which we predict to have a potential value of £900,000. We also have a promising pipeline of deals which we're aiming to close this year, which we estimate to be worth £4.7M, with partners such as SBB, Hostelpass, and Ski&Night.
No global solution is complete without wide coverage. That's why we've successfully expanded our reach to over 190 destinations worldwide.
We've attended globally celebrated events like Mobile World Congress and Web Summit.
We’ve had the privilege of being featured in renowned magazines like The Times and El Mundo and prestigious radio shows like RTVE and Intereconomia.
It’s been hard work, but we’ve been acknowledged for it. We’ve won at pitch events like Founders Live London and DES Scale Up Summit. We were also named 'Entrepreneur Revelation' by WStartups and Repsol.
These achievements and the recognition help to keep us motivated on our mission to revolutionize connectivity.
Monetisation strategy
ZIM Connections is a marketplace.
On our app, consumers can browse, select and purchase eSIM plans that best suit their needs. While using their mobile plan, they’re also able to monitor and keep track of their consumption.
We've also built a B2B model centered around affiliation, integration, and white-label solutions. We’re able to help these businesses to diversify their product offerings. eSIMs offer them the chance for new revenue streams. We're proud to have partnered with companies in the TravelTech, EdTech, and Fintech sectors. We’re building a collective that embraces eSIM as the future of connectivity.
In terms of our B2C model, our revenue comes from a commission structure. For every plan sold through our platform, we target a margin of 35%.
For our B2B model, our commission averages at 20% per plan sold.
We're pleased to report we have achieved a CAC of £7. The market for mobile roaming is at £52 billion, which gives us huge motivation with our business efforts
Use of proceeds
The funds raised through this crowdfunding campaign will be strategically allocated to help us achieve our targets and further solidify our place in the eSIM market.
These targets include our goal of maximising revenue and reaching 35% recurring customers through our B2C efforts. Our aim with our B2B channel is a closed pipeline of £10M by 2025.
We will also look to expand our reach with a focus on the APAC and LATAM markets as well as gaining new partners. We aim to integrate with at least 15 local telecom companies, including industry giants like AT&T, ORANGE, Vodafone, and Telefonica. Through these collaborations we would look to enhance the quality of our service and allow our users to enjoy competitive pricing.

We want to build eSIM infrastructures that we envision will help ZIM become a leader in this domain.
We are also targeting creating 25,000 eSIM connections which we estimate would account for more than 140,000 GB of eSIM data used through ZIM.
