EcoHedge helps businesses to measure and reduce their carbon footprint by automating the previously manual process of measuring it.
In August 2022, EcoHedge raised £379,629 from 466 investors on the Seedrs platform during its primary campaign, receiving over 350% of target funding. EcoHedge’s campaign took place under the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS), which is a tax investment scheme incentivising investors to fund early-stage companies by offering tax breaks on these investments and returns.
To date, EcoHedge’s fundraising campaign is the largest SEIS-eligible campaign to have taken place on Seedrs. Rob Smallcombe, Co-Founder of EcoHedge, described raising under SEIS at that point in their company life as “huge” because they were a pre-revenue startup and consequently very high-risk.
“The SEIS scheme gives investors such a huge benefit when it comes to mitigating risk, so you can bring on valuable advisors and investors that might have initially thought [the investment] was too risky for them.”
We caught up with Rob to find out more about his decision to start a sustainability-based startup and how community fundraising with Seedrs has helped build his network and accelerate growth. Hear what he has to say about his experience in the video below.
